BIOGRAPHY

C. Victor Fung is Professor and Coordinator of Music Education at the University of South Florida, where he is the founding Director of the Center for Music Education Research ( http://cmer.arts.usf.edu/ ). He is also a Visiting Professor at the Northeast Normal University, China. He holds a Ph.D. in music education from Indiana University, Bloomington. He has research articles published in numerous refereed journals, such as Psychology of Music, Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education, Journal of Research in Music Education, Contributions to Music Education, Update: Applications of Research to Music Education, Journal of Technology in Music Learning, Philosophy of Music Education Review, Research Studies in Music Education, College Music Symposium, and International Journal of Music Education. He has book-chapters published by American Council on Education, Australian Music Centre, and Music Educators National Conference. He is author of three instructional manuals (music in China, Japan, and Trinidad) for the Global Music Series published by Oxford University Press. His research has been focused on psychology of music, multicultural issues in music education, and international perspectives of music education. He has given over sixty presentations at professional meetings in sixteen countries, including keynote presentations in Hong Kong and Japan. In addition, he has given open lectures at fifteen universities in Asia and North America. Dr. Fung is editor of two professional journals: Research Perspectives in Music Education and Music Education Research International ( http://meri.arts.usf.edu/ ). He has served on the editorial boards of the Asia-Pacific Journal for Arts Education, Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education, and Journal of Research in Music Education. He completed a three-year term as a Board Member of The College Music Society. He is currently a Board Member of the International Society for Music Education and of the Florida Music Educators’ Association.
