BIOGRAPHY

David Myers has published and presented widely on lifespan music learning, innovative collaborations in music and arts education, and change in higher education music curricula. He has conducted extensive evaluation studies for the League of American Orchestras and is a consultant to several European conservatories on a joint master's degree for new audiences and innovative practice. His work has been supported by grants from FIPSE, the NEA, and private foundations.

He holds a Ph.D. from The University of Michigan and a M.M. degree from the Eastman School of Music. Prior to his appointment at Minnesota, Myers served as professor, founding director of the Center for Educational Partnerships in Music, doctoral program coordinator, and associate director in the School of Music at Georgia State University, where he was awarded both the junior and senior outstanding faculty awards from the College of Arts and Sciences. In 2008, he received the Distinguished Career Award from the Georgia Music Educators Association.
